Idil Biret will perform free of charge along with Kusadasi Municipality Chamber Orchestra on Friday the 29th July at 9pm at the Ada Culture Centre opposite the Marina.
Biret manifested an astounding gift for music at the age of three and was trained at the Paris Conservatory under the guidance of Nadia Boulanger.
Since the age of 16 she has performed at concerts throughout the world including the London Symphony, the Philharmonic, BBC Orchestras, Leningrad Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Dresden Staatskapelle, Berlin Radio Symphony, French National Orchestra, Polish Radio Symphony, Orchestre Suisse Romande, Warsaw Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic and Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
In 1960 she was invited by the great Russian pianist Emil Giles in the then USSR – where she performed at 16 concerts. The pianist has also participated at many festivals including; Montreal, Berlin, Paris, Athens and Istanbul.
Over the years this artist has made more than seventy albums and has been a jury member at several piano concerts and has been awarded the Lily Boulanger Memorial Prize in Boston (U.S.), the Harriet Cohen / Dinu Lipatti Gold Medal in London (UK) the Polish Prize for Artistic Merits, the National Knight Merit Order of France, the Adelaide Ristori Prize, Italy. In 2007 she was decorated with the Order of Merit by the Polish President Lech Kaczynski for her contributions to Polish culture with her recordings and performances of Chopin′s music.
