Turkey is continuing to struggle with bad weather conditions, as wintry snow and rain again hit parts of the country.

Many regions in Turkey, including Istanbul, the eastern Marmara region, the Aegean region and the Black Sea region, were surprised by snowfall, which continued on April 9 after snowfall swept the country on the previous night. The weather affected traffic in many areas, leading to the closure of highways in a number of different provinces, including the highway in Turkey’s southwestern Denizli province for a few hours.

The highway between the Afyonkarahisar province in the Aegean region and Ankara was also affected by heavy snowfall and opened the next morning after being closed for eight hours.
Snow negatively affected traffic in the northwest Bolu province on the Trans-European Motorway, a mountain pass between Turkey’s capital, Ankara, and Istanbul.

Ferryboat services in Istanbul and the northwestern Bursa were also cancelled.

Snow and sleet could continue throughout April in many provinces across the country, including Eskisehir, Izmir, Burdur, Kutahya, Duzce, Bolu,Anakra and Konya.
