Information on Special Consumption Tax (SCT) Increases
The Special Consumption Tax (SCT) rates applied to alcoholic beverages and cigarettes have been updated by the Revenue Administration. With this update, the SCT increase has been determined as 7.56%.
The new regulation also affects the minimum fixed tax on cigarettes. The current minimum fixed tax of 1.7026 lira will increase by approximately 13 kuruş to 1 lira 8312 kuruş. If the Ministry of Treasury and Finance does not determine the minimum fixed tax amounts using a different method, the fixed tax amount collected for cigarette packages will increase from 7 lira 80 kuruş to 8 lira 38 kuruş.
In addition, this SCT regulation will directly affect the prices of alcoholic beverages. For example, the SCT collected from 1 liter of raki with 45% alcohol will increase from 571.37 lira to 614.56 lira. This will be reflected in the prices of raki as an increase of 43.19 lira.
Minimum fixed tax for cigarettes: 1.7026 lira → 1.8312 lira
Fixed tax per package: 7.80 lira → 8.38 lira
Special Consumption Tax on Raki: 571.37 lira → 614.56 lira
