Ladies Beach used to be just what its name implies- a beach just for the ladies! These days it is a charming mini resort within a resort, with a flat sandy beach, beachfront cafes and restaurants and winding streets with souvenir and gift shops.
Set back from the main seafront area are most of the hotels, holiday homes and residential areas. Many of Kusadasi’s full time residents live here as the area is only 10 minutes from the town centre, less built up and greener but still with some amenities throughout the year.
There are diving schools and beach clubs plus the promenade itself is excellent for “people watching” and taking pictures. Sunset is a special time here as you can watch the sun slowly dip down behind Samos Island. Ladies Beach has a lazy relaxed feel to it, you can while away the day sunbathing, dining or browsing in the shops, take part in the water sports or simply sit back and watch the world go by.
Almost all the restaurants and bars along Ladies Beach carry a different theme from Italian and Greek to authentic Indian and Chinese, so there really is a menu to suit every member of the family. On a two week holiday it’s possible to eat in a different “country” every night!
Green Beach leads away south from Ladies Beach; there are residential and holiday homes located here too, and it is still just a walk or a dolmus ride from Ladies Beach or Kusadasi town centre.
The road here is lined with olive trees and there is a picturesque white watchtower on the wooded hillside, overlooking Long Beach. Coming out of Green Beach you join the main arterial road which takes you north and south. Going south, on your right is the area known as Yavansu, where the houses are virtually on the edge of the Aegean, further along on your right hand side are furniture and car showrooms, a big supermarket, a multiplex cinema, bakery and petrol stations.
At the end of this road is a roundabout and junction where you go straight ahead to reach the market town of Soke and the district town of Aydin, or turn right to follow the coast road to the towns of Davutlar and Guzelcamli, plus the villages of Sogucak and Caferli. Ladies Beach is just 10 minutes away from the heart of Kusadasi and has a regular dolmus and taxi service.
