Every year on the 23rd of April Turkey celebrates Children’s Day which was which was founded by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who seen the Children of Turkey as the future of Turkey.

He was quoted as saying “Children are the new beginning of tomorrow”

The day is celebrated by various performances and activties organised by the schools and all the parents and families turnout to watch their children perform.

Children’s Day is also marked by a holiday meaning that schools, banks and offices

are closed throughout the country.

 

Since the first Children’ Day in Turkey was celebrated the day was recognised internationally at the World Conference in Geneva in 1925 and they dedicated the 1st June to Children’s Day.  In the 1980′s, UNICEF recognised the Children’s Holiday.  Many countries now celebrate their own Children’s day.

In Kusadası along with the many performances put on by the children there will also be clowns magicians etc… to entertain us all.  The weather is reported to be nice and sunny so it should be a great day .
