Today one of our volunteers here at the Advice Centre accompanied a British couple to Aydin to assist them with their residency application.
After the application was made they were told it would take up to 4 working days to process the applicatıon which at this time is quicker than the 7 to 10 days it had been previously, however we suggest that unless you need to collect your residency urgently you should wait 7 to 10 days before going back to Aydin to collect it in case of any delays.
We would also like to inform you of a small change in the charge for residency application .
Your residency book (ikamet),as of 1st January 2012 now costs 172TL an increase
of 15% on the previous price of 149TL and you still have up to 4 residency periods in one book. Some ill informed people interpret this as meaning a person can only stay in Turkey for a maximum of 20 years (4 x 5 years). However, the limit of 4 applications is per ikamet book. If and when you apply for a 5th time, you simply have to buy a new book.
Fees will be charged in Turkish lira
, at the equivalent of $25 for one month and $5 per month for each subsequent month for Uk citizens , Irish citizens still will only pay for the book now 172 Tl.You can apply for a maximum of 5 years at a time if you are the owner of a property here and your name is on the tıtle deed.If you dont own a property you can only receive residency for a maximum of 3 years with a rental contract on your first application.
