Most recently, she held the role of Director of Consular and Crisis at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) from 2020 to 2024.
Her wider diplomatic career includes senior roles such as:

- Deputy Head of Mission in Jakarta
- Political and security-focused positions in Brussels and London
Anderson joined the Foreign Office in 1997 and has worked across counter‑terrorism, business engagement, and regional policy departments. Her appointment is expected to bring continuity and strengthened engagement in UK–Turkey relations, supported by her prior experience in the country and her familiarity with bilateral priorities.
