Archaeologists at Maydos Kilisetepe Mound, where archaeological excavations are being carried out found a kitten half-buried in the ground in the Agean province of Canakkale.
Archaeologist Goksel Sazci found two kittens, however, one of them was dead and it is thought that the mother buried it.
The kitten was taken to a vet and after intensive treatment and feeding, the kitten recovered.
They named the cat Mokali and it is now their mascot at the site. Sazci said that the kitten was “a very important finding” for them and that it spends its day either playing with the excavation team or sleeping in the shade.
