Kuşadası Municipality has taken action to bring a definitive solution to the odor problem experienced in the stream passing through the city center. Kuşadası Municipality, which is preparing to sign a protocol with DSİ to carry out cleaning and rehabilitation works in the open area of the stream, which is under the authority of the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) and Aydın Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate (ASKİ), has applied to ASKİ to determine the source of the odor.
Kuşadası Municipality, which continues to work without making any distinction between ‘authority and responsibility areas’ to solve all problems experienced in the city, has applied to DSİ to undertake the rehabilitation works of the open area of the stream passing through İsmet İnönü Boulevard and causing complaints due to the odor it emits. Kuşadası Municipality has also requested a detailed analysis to be conducted in order to understand the cause of the odor and whether there is any sewage discharge into the stream with its application to ASKİ. If DSİ approves the request, the cleaning and rehabilitation works of the open area of the stream will be carried out by Kuşadası Municipality teams in accordance with the analysis report to be received from ASKİ with the protocol to be made.
Kuşadası Deputy Mayor Yusuf Atak stated that they are in contact with the relevant institutions to solve all the problems concerning the city and said, “As Kuşadası Municipality, we are ready to do our part to eliminate the odor problem experienced in the stream, the rehabilitation responsibility of which lies with DSİ and ASKİ. For this purpose, we applied to DSİ and requested that the rehabilitation authority of the open area of the stream be transferred to Kuşadası Municipality. In order to provide a permanent solution to the problem, we applied to ASKİ and requested that the source of the odor be investigated.
