The idea of jumping into ice cold water (average 16 degrees) on New Year’s Day might not be everyone’s idea of heaven – but an army of warm hearts from Kusadasi set out to do just that in aid of raising cash for the sick and injured street animals in our area.

What has now become a regular event on Ladies Beach is a great way to shake off any sore heads from the night before and to blow away any lingering cobwebs.

The swim kicked off at 12:00 and I was right there (with my camera) to take some shots and even the dogs joined in.

Afterwards everyone enjoyed warming up at Ladies Beach restaurant while they waited for their toes to thaw out and to enjoy a marvelous raffle that took place..

For anyone who does not know of the good work that Paws and Claws do here in Kusadasi –  they are a group of volunteers who work tirelessly to help the many street animals in our city (and there are plenty).

If you would like to see how our animals are helped you can go to our Paws and Claws Facebook page or alternatively go to http://kusadasipawsandclaws.com/.

Well done everyone who took part in the swim and I will be there next year (with my camera).
