Shockingly it appears that Aer Lingus have already started cancelling flights giving their customers just 4 hours’ notice.

An Irish family of 7 members to include very young children, left Kusadasi for Izmir airport on Thursday 20th June 2024 allowing for over one hour of a transfer time which would see them at check in for the required 3 hours before departure time.

Realistically, is anyone going to receive notifications from an airline whilst on the road in Turkiye with a foreign phone with no access to Internet!

Luckily for this family, they had other family members living in Kusadasi who were able to help with return transfer and accommodation in Kusadasi until the next available flight.  The alternative would have been unthinkable.

Aer Lingus did send this family of 7 return flight tickets for 1 week later.

Many tourists approaching the end of their holiday become more financially frugal and sometimes just have the bare minimum for spends at the airport and travel arrangements on arrival in their home country.

Stranding passengers in a foreign country for one week prior to scheduled industrial action is questionable.

There are rules governing airlines and protect passengers in situations such as this.  https://www.aerlingus.com/legal/regulation/
