Veteran thrash metal band Megadeth will headline Istanbul’s new Rock Off festival to be held between Aug. 2 and 4.
The group is taking the stage at Istanbul’s Kucukciftlik Park again after two years and will perform Aug. 4.
Founded by lead guitarist and singer Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson in 1983 in Los Angeles, the influential band is seen by many as responsible for thrash metal’s development and popularization. The band has released 14 albums and has sold close to 50 million records worldwide.
Rock Off will also host Finnish band HIM and Swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth. JORN, Gojira, Stratovarius, Jorn Lande, Haggard, Turisas, Ayşe Saran, Murat İlkan, Murder King and Knight Errant will take the stage at the Rock Off Festival at Kucukciftlik Park from Aug. 2 to Aug. 4. A workshop with Dave Kilminster – guitarist for Roger Waters, an acoustic performance by Danny Cavanagh and a Q&A with the Jorn Lande and Haggard will take place at the festival.
With the help of a Turkish environmental organization, the TEMA Foundation, a memorial forest will be created by planting a tree for each person who attends the concert, said the organizers.
