Back in May the Education Minister Ziya Selcuk announced that the 13-week summer break will be shortened to eleven weeks.
This means that school children will now enjoy a mid-term break on the week commencing 18th November. There will also be week’s holiday in April.
Also under new regulations which were published in the Official Gazette, it will be compulsory for children who are 69 months old by September, to start primary education. This has been raised from 66 months.
In Turkey, required education is 12 years, which is divided into primary and secondary school. The school term starts in September and runs through to June.
