Referring to Turkey’s aid agency’s drinking water project for Native Americans in Arizona, Minister Bozdag expresses his pride that Turkey could now conduct projects in the US
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) is organizing a drinking water project for Native American reservations in the southwestern American state of Arizona.
Speaking with journalists, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag stated TIKA extends its services not only to Muslims or countries with Turkic ethnicities, but to all needy people across the world without making distinctions based on belief, language or race.
Reminding of TIKA’s continuing projects in the Balkans and Turkic republics, Bozdag said, “Turkey, which received support from the Marshall, IMF and World Bank until today, will actualize a project for one of the most developed countries of the world, the US, for the first time. This is an important example in our history and is a significant step to show where we are. It’s the first time Turkey helps a community in United States and we are proud of it.”
Turkey’s development aid through TIKA was $83 million in 2002, and increased to $2.5 billion in 2012.
TIKA runs projects in 120 countries throughout the world.
