In the Incirliova district of Aydın, a camel named Gören is walked approximately 10 kilometres a day before the wrestling competitions.
The 2024-2025 camel wrestling season has started in Aydın. Camels that have not wrestled for a long time will now enter the arena and show off. Camel owners never neglect the training of their camels, which they take great care of. Birhan Turan has been taking care of İsmail Gören’s 11-year-old camel named Gören in Incirliova for 9 years.
Gören successfully completes his 10 km walk that he regularly does every day. Tied to the back of a pickup truck, Gören walked along the Aydın-İzmir highway.
Turan, who has been a camel caretaker in Incirliova for 25 years, said that taking care of a camel is very difficult. Stating that taking care of a camel is quite laborious, Turan said that this camel was bought by İsmail Gören when he was 3 years old.
Turan, who noted that he was responsible for all the care of the camel, said, “We give them clover and vetch in the summer. In the winter, the camels eat live barley and hay. Then we take them out, walk them and do exercise. We take care to have them walk regularly. We will participate in camel wrestling in the surrounding districts such as Aydın, Germencik, Incirliova. Our preparations are ongoing to win the wrestling this year.” Source: https://www.aydinpost.com/
