SKY NEWS NEWS CHANNEL BROADCAST CUT OFF

Sky News, one of the UK’s major television news channels, was unable to broadcast today.

“Sky News was unable to broadcast live this morning, we are now apologizing to viewers for the disruption,” the broadcaster’s chief executive David Rhodes said in a statement on X.

The channel later announced that broadcasting had resumed.

DEPARTURES POSTPONED, SOLUTIONS LOOKING FOR

In Ireland, Ryanair announced that the outage caused global disruption.

German airline Lufthansa said, “Currently, profile and booking functionality may be limited. We are working on a solution.”

Prague Airport reported that it was affected by a failure in the global check-in system used by many airlines, with some departures being postponed.

At Düsseldorf Airport, Eurowings said that check-in and boarding were disrupted due to a computer failure.

In Spain, it was noted that all airports were affected by the IT outage.

Air France announced that it experienced IT outages, although not at Paris airports.

Dutch airline KLM suspended many of its operations.

Switzerland International Airport announced that two flights from Zurich to Berlin have been cancelled and that delays and other flight cancellations are expected in some cases.

The system failure is causing disruptions at some airports in the United States, including Los Angeles.

“Flights are arriving and departing, but there may be some delays throughout the evening,” a spokesman for Sydney airport in Australia’s capital said.

It has been announced that passengers at Edinburgh Airport in England cannot use automatic boarding pass scanners, and are being checked manually.

A spokesperson for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol said it was affected by the global cyber outage. The spokesperson added that it was not yet clear how many flights were affected.

It was reported that due to a malfunction at Hong Kong Airport, check-in procedures were done manually instead of online.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that major US airlines have suspended all flights due to a “communication problem.”

The German Stock Exchange reported that transactions started normally but checks were continuing.

In a statement from the Swiss Stock Exchange, it was noted that the sixth group systems were working normally.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the global technical problem affected all its electronic systems.

CROWDSTRIKE: “WE ARE INFORMED”

Information technology firm Crowdstrike issued a telephone message saying it was aware of reports of crashes related to the Falcon sensor in Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

The message said: “Thank you for contacting Crowdstrike support. Crowdstrike is aware of reports of crashes related to the Falcon sensor in Windows.”

STATEMENT FROM MICROSOFT: WE HAVE TAKEN MITIGATION MEASURES

US technology giant Microsoft also announced that it has taken “mitigation measures” following the service outages.

The company said in a post on the social media platform X, “As we continue to take mitigation measures, we are seeing continued improvements in our services.”

In a statement titled “Service Degradation,” the company announced that users will not be able to access various Microsoft 365 applications and services.

Microsoft reported that access was limited because some users could only access Microsoft 365 in read-only mode while it worked to resolve the issue.

The statement said, “We continue to address this incident with the highest priority and urgency, while continuing to address the lasting impact for the remaining Microsoft 365 applications that are in a degraded state.”

THY PRESS COUNSELOR ÜSTÜN: NECESSARY ACTIONS ARE BEING TAKEN TO FIX THE ISSUE

Turkish Airlines was also among the companies affected by the disruption. THY Press Counselor Yahya Üstün stated in a statement on social media that there were disruptions in ticketing and reservation processes due to problems in information systems.

Üstün said, “Necessary work is being done to fix the problem and prevent our passengers from being victimized. We apologize for the disruption in question. We will inform you as soon as possible.” Üstün explained that there was a software-related problem affecting many companies around the world and said, “Necessary actions are being taken to fix this problem in our partially affected operations. Our operations are gradually returning to normal. We apologize to our valued guests for the disruption.”

USOM: NOT CAUSED BY CYBER ATTACK

In a statement made on the social media account of the National Cyber ​​Incident Response Center (USOM), it was stated that “As a result of the investigation carried out regarding the global outage that occurred on devices using the Windows operating system, it was determined that the disruption was not caused by a cyber attack.”

USOM stated that the interruption in question was detected to have occurred in institutions and organizations using the CrowdStrike product, and added, “Together, solution suggestions have been shared with all our SOMEs via the SİP platform.”
