Metin Manisa Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director, announced that the harvest and export of the Superior Seedless grape variety will begin.
Making statements regarding the start of harvest of Superior Seedless grape variety, Manisa Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Metin Öztürk said, “The harvest and export dates of Superior Seedless grape variety, which has a significant export and foreign exchange potential, are determined every year by a commission established with the participation of the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and Aegean Exporters’ Associations. Early or late harvest of grapes, which are one of the fruit types that do not continue to ripen after harvest, can cause problems in export. For this reason, it is of great importance that grapes, which are a strategic product in Manisa and our country’s exports, meet the harvest and maturity criteria. To determine whether these criteria were met, the commission members visited the vineyards in Salihli, Alaşehir, Sarıgöl districts of Manisa and took samples from 10 vineyards representing the region. The samples taken were analysed in the Laboratory of Manisa Viticulture Research Institute Directorate. The analysis results were submitted to the Manisa Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Aegean Foreign Trade and Customs Regional Directorate, Manisa Viticulture Research Institute Directorate, İzmir Provincial Agricultural The harvest and export dates for the Superior Seedless variety were determined by evaluating the meeting attended by the representatives of the Quarantine Directorate and the Aegean Exporters’ Association.
Accordingly, It was decided to cut the Superior Seedless grape variety on July 11, 2024 and to export it on July 11, 2024. Superior Seedless provides a significant advantage in exports thanks to its earliness. Thanks to this earliness, our market share in Russia and Europe has increased even more. Especially with the delay in the harvest period of the Sultaniye grape variety, our competitive power in the Russian and European markets with the Superior seedless grape variety is increasing. Approximately 5 thousand tons of Superior seedless grapes are exported annually to Russia and the rest to other European countries.” he said.
Öztürk completed his statement as follows: “In addition to the economic advantage it provides to the country’s economy, Superior Seedless also stands out as a useful agricultural product in regulating blood sugar due to its low sugar content and tart taste. It is a grape variety that is consumed with peace of mind, especially by diabetics, and attracts great attention. I wish it to be beneficial, fruitful and profitable for our country, our people, our farmers, and our exporters.” Source: https://www.turgutluyanki.com/
