Habitation Certificate

Habitation Certificate? What is it and does your property need one ??? Does your property have a habitation certificate? 40-45% of the properties in Turkey do not have a habitation certificate. According to the law, the municipalities can not serve water or sewage system if the building does not have a habitation certificate. The city councils have, in some cases, been approving services to those without habitation certificates so far. Now, the central government is putting pressure on the local councils to ask for habitation certificates from the constuctors and property owners. Many foreigners buy their homes without knowing they need a habitation certificate, and later find themselves faced with problems and struggling with paperwork which entails further troubles in order to gain the certificate.
