In Kuşadası, one of the most important tourism centers of Turkey with its natural, historical and cultural riches, the change that started with Mayor Ömer Günel continues to make itself felt in every aspect of city life.

The city, whose amount of green space has been increased 7 times in the last 5 years with the work carried out by Kuşadası Municipality, has a much greener appearance with the new trees planted.

The 340 thousand 706 thousand square meters of parks and green areas brought to the city with the works carried out at 140 points during the term of Mayor Ömer Günel, who attaches great importance to the protection of the environment, nature and greenery, as well as the infrastructure and superstructure investments he made, attract attention with their themes and modern landscape designs compatible with nature. . After Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel took office in 2019, 340 thousand 706 square meters of new green space was added to Kuşadası with an investment of 400 million 296 thousand TL in 5 years by the Parks and Gardens Directorate teams, which continued their work to increase the amount of qualified green areas in the city. With the work carried out by the teams, new parks and green areas were built at 77 points covering an area of ​​231 thousand 891 square meters. Existing parks and green areas at 63 locations, covering an area of ​​108 thousand 815 square meters, were completely renewed and put into use. Thus, in the last 5 years, 340 thousand 706 square meters of new parks and green areas were added to Kuşadası with an investment of 400 million 296 thousand TL.

12 thousand trees were planted

Continuing its work with the goal of “A Green Kuşadası”, Kuşadası Municipality has planted a total of 12 thousand trees since 2019, 250 of which are tropical jacaranda trees that add great color and aesthetics to the region with their purple flowers that bloom 6 months of the year. On the other hand, Kuşadası Municipality, which gives a chance to live again to the trees that had to be cut down due to construction works, has saved over 700 trees, including centuries-old olives, from being cut down and transplanted them to the parks it has completed. The trees integrated with the landscape of the parks quickly got used to their new places and began to live their lives in a healthy way.

Medians and intersections bloomed

In addition to park construction, renovation and tree planting works, the Parks and Gardens Directorate teams added great aesthetics to Kuşadası with the landscaping work they carried out at the intersections and medians in the city for 5 years. The intersections and medians were covered with humus soil suitable for planting and were colored with flowers and trees suitable for the Mediterranean climate. In addition to the grassing work on medians and intersections where automatic irrigation systems were installed, the landscape design using dolomite stones and various tree barks was also appreciated by the city’s residents.

The landscaping of the 17-kilometer ring road was highly appreciated

In addition, the maintenance of the medians and intersections on the 17-kilometer ring road, which is under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways, was undertaken by Kuşadası Municipality with the protocol signed with the 2nd Regional Directorate of Highways. The ring road was given an aesthetic appearance with the grassing, flowering and afforestation works carried out by the Parks and Gardens Directorate teams.

Parks are for all of us

Considering stray animals as an integral part of city life, Kuşadası Municipality did not forget their dear friends in the green areas it provided to the city for 5 years. Cat and dog houses, food and water containers were placed in the newly built and maintained parks by teams affiliated with the Parks and Gardens Directorate. Thanks to the cat and dog houses and food and water bowls, which are regularly maintained and cleaned by Kuşadası Municipality teams, the parks have also become homes for stray animals. (IHA)
