Melek Yildirim, a paramedic from Diyarbakir contracted coronavirus after a trip to France.

When she first left Turkey there were no cases of the virus and on her return she became one of the first people to test positive.

During her compulsory quarantine she began showing symptoms of the virus with having a high fever and pains in her joints.

After being treated in hospital for a week Yildirim went home to self-isolate.

In Turkey’s eastern province of Malatya a 56-year-old patient tested negative for coronavirus after receiving plasma therapy.

Dr. Ahmet Kizilay said that plasma was given to an incubated patient, who after 72 hours showed a partial recovery. He went on to say that the “patient has shown a very promising improvement. He is still in ICU and under control and that test we made for him on April 13 resulted in negative,”

After recovering from coronavirus, Yildirim wanted to help other people and give them hope by donating her plasma, a fluid in the blood which is overflowing with antibodies that can help fight the virus.

Yildirim has recommended that anyone who has been infected with the virus and who have then tested negative, to make plasma donations after they recover.
