Presidency Communications Director Fahrettin Altun announced the decision on his social media account. The holiday was not extended; public sector work will begin on June 10.  He made the following statement:

“On the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha, which we will soon observe, starting from the afternoon of Thursday, June 5 (Arefe), on June 6-7-8-9, 2025 (the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th day of the Eid), our public employees will be considered to be on administrative leave. The normal working hours in the public sector will return on Tuesday, June 10. We pray to Allah that our Eid al-Adha will be blessed in advance, that it will strengthen our unity and solidarity, and we wish all our citizens who will set off on the occasion of the Eid auspicious and safe journeys.”

ON WHICH DAY DOES EID-AL-Adha START?

According to the religious calendar of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, the 2025 Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah according to the Islamic calendar. This year, the first day of the holiday falls on Thursday, June 6. The holiday, which will begin with the sacrifice, will last a total of four days and will end on June 9th.

Eve: Thursday, June 5, 2025

Since the holiday starts on Thursday and is combined with the weekend, it offers citizens the opportunity to have a holiday that will last almost a week.

HOW MANY DAYS LEFT TO EID-AL-Adha?

As of May 26, 2025, there are only 11 days left until the first day of Eid al-Adha. The countdown has begun, and especially those who will be sacrificing animals outside the city or going on vacation have begun to finalize their plans.

HOW MANY DAYS WILL THE HOLIDAY BE, WILL IT BE EXTENDED?

The 2025 Eid al-Adha holiday will officially be celebrated between Thursday, June 6 and , Monday June 9th. Since the day before, Wednesday, June 5, is considered a half-day holiday, there will be a total of 4.5 days of holiday. Although there are expectations that the holiday will be extended, no statement has been made by the authorities in this direction.
