The February ordinary meeting of Kuşadası Municipality Council was held in the Davutlar Neighborhood Service Building Meeting Hall under the leadership of Mayor Ömer Günel. Important decisions regarding the city were made at the meeting where issues coming from the directorates and referred to the committees were discussed.

The February meeting of Kuşadası Municipal Council hosted Tuana Hançeroğlu, a 10th grade student at Makbule Hasan Uçar Anatolian High School, who came in third in the peace-themed art competition organized by the Mayors for Peace Platform, of which Kuşadası Municipality is a member, for children living in member cities every year. Mayor Ömer Günel congratulated Tuana Hançeroğlu, who came in third with her painting in the “Peaceful Towns” competition, in which 1896 students aged 11-15 from 21 countries and 123 cities participated, and said, “We are very happy about the success achieved by dear Tuana from Kuşadası in a competition in which nearly 1900 students from all over the world participated. We wish her continued success.”

ARYA A.Ş. WILL OPERATE THE FISHERS’ COFFEE

At the meeting, it was also decided that Balıkçılar Kahvesi, which is among the iconic places of Kuşadası and for which Kuşadası Municipality continues its renovation works, will be operated by Arya A.Ş. Making a statement on the subject, Mayor Ömer Günel stated that efforts are ongoing to bring Balıkçılar Kahvesi, which has been operated by Kuşadası Fisheries Cooperative through sub-tenants for many years, back to the city as a modern facility.

“FISHERS ARE VERY VALUABLE TO US”

Underlining once again that Kuşadası Municipality has no problems or hostility with either Kuşadası Fisheries Cooperative or fishermen, Mayor Ömer Günel said, “Our fishermen are very valuable to us and we love them. We have always been by their side, both in terms of providing material support and improving the physical conditions of the fishermen’s shelter, and we will continue to do so. The Cooperative management, which has been operating the Fishermen’s Cafe through sub-tenants until today and generating income, has prevented us from bringing the Fishermen’s Cafe to the city for 3 years under the guidance of someone. However, it was not me who lost it, it was Kuşadası. The Fishermen’s Cafe is not anyone’s personal property. It belongs to Kuşadası and the people of Kuşadası.”

INTERNATIONAL KUSADASI PROMOTION

At the assembly meeting, the issue of participation in tourism fairs, which are of great importance for the promotion of the city, was also discussed and a decision was made to participate in the International Belgrade Tourism Fair to be held in Serbia between February 19-21 and the ITB Berlin Fair to be held in Berlin, the capital of Germany, in March.
