Due to a technical problem between the banking sector and the Revenue Administration, citizens received warnings on their mobile phones. There is a “Housing Rent Payment” problem in money transfer transactions throughout Türkiye. It has emerged that the issue, which first emerged with the problem in transactions made through the crypto exchange Binance TR on social media accounts, has spread to all of Türkiye.
An error occurred where EFTs sent to cryptocurrency investors’ accounts after sales transactions were evaluated as ‘rental income’. Since the payments were coded as Rental Housing Payments, the Revenue Administration began sending them automatic SMS from the Ministry of Finance.

Revenue Administration officials reached by Haberler.com Economy Editor Abdurrahman Yazıcı stated that the issue was not only related to the cryptocurrency exchange Binance TR; money transfers between two people who do not have a cryptocurrency or exchange account were also defined as housing rental income. Noting that an additional taxation message was sent to these people via the Revenue Administration for this reason, officials stated that this issue stemmed from a technical problem between the banking sector and the Revenue Administration.
