The new season introduction meeting of Bodrum Municipality City Theatres, which is preparing to open its curtains to bring art lovers together with the magical world of theatre, was held at Bodrum Municipality Nurol Culture Centre.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor General Coordinator Emel Çakaloğlu, Bodrum Municipality City Theatres General Art Director, Writer, Director and Actor Metin Zakoğlu, City Theatres actors, municipality unit managers and members of the press, representing Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci.
Providing information about the new season of Bodrum Municipality City Theatres, General Art Director Metin Zakoğlu said:
“Bodrum Municipality Theatre will open the curtain with four consecutive plays this year. The curtain will not close for 12 months. We will perform all our plays in the empty areas, parks and gardens we find in the summer. Bodrum residents will be full of theatre from October onwards. Theatre will be talked about in Bodrum,” he said. Zakoğlu also emphasized that they want to take theatre to the villages and disabled citizens living in Bodrum.
Deputy Çakaloğlu: “May the curtains never close in Bodrum, may the light of art always be with us.”
Deputy Mayor Emel Çakaloğlu gave the good news that theatrical days will begin in Bodrum and touched on the following:
“Local governments’ support for art and artists strengthens the local identity by providing cultural richness and helps raise awareness in society by bringing social issues to the agenda. We continue our meticulous path for the formation of a bright future. We continue our work to raise contemporary, enlightened, creative and empathetic generations, to introduce them to art and to increase social welfare. In this context, we have most recently made innovations in our Bodrum Municipality City Theatres. We want to turn Bodrum into an art centre by considering the positive effects of art on social welfare. May the curtains never close in Bodrum, may the light of art always be with us.”
Following the speeches, General Art Director Metin Zakoğlu answered questions from members of the press. The introductory meeting ended with a group photo.
The season opening will be held on Tuesday, October 1st with Metin Zakoğlu’s Joyful Gazino. A total of four plays will be presented to theatre lovers in the Bodrum Municipality City Theatres Play Program until Sunday, December 1st, 2024. The play program can be accessed at www.bodrum.bel.tr.
